In order to fix the teensy health issues I currently have with an aggressive form of cancer, I am being treated with some hefty chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which tend to disagree with me a bit and make me feel quite poorly. In related news, I hope to win the 2025 Understatement of the Year contest.
Anyway, I consequently spend a lot of time in hospital and recently I started to amuse myelf by writing fake news stories about mundane daily events and posting them on Facebook for my friends and family.
Possibly due to the terrifying quantities of sedatives and painkillers available to me, the posts have spiralled into a Night Vale-inspired series of cheerfully oblivious ‘slice of life’ dispatches from an anonymous field reporter, detailing the nightmarish mundanity of a small community as it becomes more and more apparent that the slightly vague ‘local area’ is a somewhat cursed cancer hospital.
This is a list collecting them, which I have put together mostly for my dad who enjoys a spot of hack journalism but (quite rightly) hates Facebook.
